Intensive course in Danish language and culture

Askov Højskole
August 8th – 21th, 2010

In August, 8 - 21, 2010, Askov Højskole in Southern Jylland offers instruction in Danish at different levels, including beginners. The course will include intensive instruction in the Danish language, but also excursions, lectures (in Danish), concerts, films, etc. enabling you to get better acquainted with the Danish society and culture. First and foremost, however, you will experience an inspiring stay at the well-known residental folk high school.

The price for this fortnight course, including board and lodging, excursions and instruction, is
DKK 6.700 (single room) or
DKK 7.100 (single room with shower and WC).

Enrollment by June, 25, 2010.

Every day:
Breakfast at 07.45 (Saturday 08.45, Sunday 09.00 – 12.00), Lunch at 12.30, Dinner at 18.15. Gathering with songs and important information each day at 08.45

19.00 Introduction to the course, tour of the school, coffee

Monday August 9th
09.15   Danish test – verbal and written
The students will be divided into 3 subgroups – Beginner, medium and experienced
11.00 Presentation of the Danish municipal system and senior politics
13.30 Walk to Vejen
14.00 Visit at the senior center ”Knudepunktet”
15.00 Visit at the local art museum – Vejen museum
19.00 Fun with sports

Wednesday August 11th

Visit at Ribe Viking museum and Ribe Domkirke
Guided tour of the town and individual sightseeing
19.00 Visits in Danish homes

Saturday August 14th
09.15 Morning gathering
09.45 – 10.45 Danish class
11.00 Introduction to the second week of the course
13.15 Trip to Odense by bus. Visit at Hans Christian Andersens house
20.00 Nordic song night with Kristian la Cour

Sunday August 15th
Day off – a good excuse to go on individual excursions. Eg. to Jutlands beautiful west coast
